About Our Chapter

"The struggle is painful, but struggle is also joyful. It needs to be, or it's not going to work." -Rabbi Brant Rosen

The Northern New Mexico chapter of SURJ is currently led by 16 core organizers representing four counties who meet bi-weekly via Zoom and in smaller working groups as needed. Our Facebook bulletin board has 650+ members and our Instagram account has 750+ followers. We are a totally volunteer-run organization.

At this time, the membership and efforts of NNM SURJ is concentrated in Santa Fe and the Española Valley. It is our intention to support efforts and chapter building from other parts of Northern New Mexico.

Our work turns on the axis of supporting efforts led by Indigenous and Black folks and People of Color (POC), and engaging other white folks around issues of racial justice. We hold awareness that none of us are experts in everything and we expect to work together in support of our collectively held goals.

If you are interested in joining our chapter's leadership team, please reach out to us at nnmsurj@gmail.com. We'd love to have you!
